Shark Tank!

Okay, I'm a little weird with this show. Not many people know this show, but I LOVE this show. I have it programmed in my T.V. to record every week and if for some strange reason it doesn't record, I'm mad!

Shark Tank Season 1 premiered on Sunday, August 9, 2009 on ABC. My favorite shark is Mark Cuban, for those of you who don't know him, he owns the Dallas Mavericks team. (Just thought I'd let y'all know!) The other people on this show include Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner, who stars on QVC. Also Kevin Harrington who is the maker and owner of Fubu.

Anyways y'all want me to get to the point I bet! Shark Tank is about 5 sharks (All million and billionaire investors) who buy into entrepreneurs ideas. People come on this show with all kinds of crazy and fascinating ideas. One of the most expensive ideas the sharks bought into was worth over 100 million dollars. Sometimes the sharks will buy into their product or company for a part of stake and they'll show a recent update of them now being millionaires all because of the sharks help.

I wish I had a great idea that I could put on Shark Tank, because they give almost everyone a deal who comes through and on the season updates they're ALWAYS making millions!
Anyways if you ever get a chance, just watch it and see all the things people come on there and present, ITS AWESOME!

"Sweat"

Our Comparrison Paper that we just previously did, I compared the story the "Yellow Wallpaper" to a story I had never read before, "Sweat". This short story really interested me. The main woman in the story, Delia Jones is a hard working black woman who does any and everything to make a living. Her husband, Sykes is a lazy cruel man. 3 months after they married, he gave her her first brutal beating (they have been married for 15). He not only beats her, but he also cheats on her with what the neighbors call "a big greasy fat slob". When Delia sees Sykes with his lover, it pleases him to see this. Delia works through the rain, heat, cold, snow, and whatever else comes her way while her husband is unfaithful, abuse, and doesn't help provide to her. Well one day Sykes left a huge poisonous snake in a box (knowing Delia is terrified of them). Delia lets it out one day right before Sykes arrives at home. He goes into the house where it's dark and the snake bites him. He begins to cry for Delia and she is outside to hear the whole thing. She walks inside to see hes been struck in the face and is going to die.
Deaths should be sad, but in this story its the perfect ending.

21 Jump Street :))

Oh where do I begin with this movie? First I guess I'll start with Channing Tatum. OMG I love watching him act. I guess because he's soooo CUTE! But anyways this movie is very funny and I high suggest you watching it!
This movie starts off in High School where you have the "dork", Jonah Hill and the "jock", Channing Tatum. These two guys aren't at all friends, in fact, Channing makes fun of Jonah. Then the movie turns to a few years later and they are both sigining up to be in the Police Academy. This is where they become good friends and both help each other to pass and get their badge. One day they are riding in the park and catch a few guys smoking weed and they attenpt to make an arrest. WELLL... They fail to read them their Marinda Rights and so the arrest is no good. Their cheif then sends them to 21 Jump street. Here they go undercover as High School students again to figure out a synthetic drug ring that has been killing people. The movie gets really funny while they are in high school and they just blend in as students. They goof off in high school and get their badges taken away so they decide to become serious and break the case. Towards the end of the movie they bust the bad guys and get their badges back and continue to be best friends.
This movie has a cheesy story to it, but I absolutely love it. It has two, great, funny actors who play well together!!

The pictures in the street

Okay they all say a picture is worth a thousand words, well too bad im only going to give you 250 :) Anyways I have seen in so many magazines, on TV, and photos these incredible pictures/ work of art!
I could never draw that great except for a horse (I'm a weirdo), but these artist are some kind of amazing to bring a picture to life and make it look 3-D. I have always wanted to be in down town New York or wherever these artist make this drawings on the sides of streets and just witness the creativity for myself. I am not a art freak, far from it if I must say, but I definietely give a hand of applause to these people! Okay the first picture I found that blows me away is this woman falling in the pool.

All the tiles in the pool look like they are really there. The Dr. pepper, tea,  flip-flops, and even the ball all look like they're built into the street. The next crazy thing is how you can draw it in such great 3-D form that the man sticking his foot in the water looks like it's through the ground, but it's really sitting on-top (the same height as the tiles).

My next photo I thought was cool was:

It looks as if the bottle is 3 feet tall, but once again, it's just flat on the ground.

Now this picture right here is just truly amazing. If I was walking down the road and almost stepped into this I would believe it was really a crack in the ground, because I am just so naive!

How does anyone have such crazy ways of making a few color bring out the beauty in a photo? I don't know how they do this so well, but they are great at what they do!

This was my last picture,  becaue I'm getting WAY too happy on this blog, but yeah here are some of the crazy things people can do! A human's mind is so amazing if you just let it explore!

"The Call" by Matt Kennon

This song really touched me when I first listened to it and it gave me chills. This song starts out with this boy who parks his truck down a dirt road and was ready to end his life.

"Today was gonna be the day
He'd already wrote the note
He parked that Chevrolet
At the end of that dead end road

Had his finger on the trigger
Just about to end everything
He was taking one last long breath
When he heard his cell phone ring"

He then gets a call from his buddy right before he pulls the trigger and says,

"His best friend said, "man where you been?"
We're headin down to the lake this weekend
You better not miss it
Cause buddy I swear
It won't be the same
If you ain't there
I told that girl that you like so much
You were coming along and her eyes lit up
I better let you go
Man I really hope
I didn't catch you in the middle of anything
He said you kinda did
But I don't mind at all
I'm glad you called"

Then the setting changes to two 18 year old teenager who are kissing in the back seat of a car and let it go to far.

"Then another tale down the road
In the back seat of the car
Two 18 year olds
Had let a kiss go to far

He said how we gonna have this child
We are both headed off to school
He convinced her late one night
There's only one thing to do"

The boy convinced the girl that they were going off to college and they couldn't afford to have a kid at the time and she should just have an abortion.

"She was scared to death in that waiting room
When the nurse asked how far along are you
She said 5 weeks and just about then
Her phone lite up and his call came in
He said baby I was wrong about everything
I've already bought you a diamond ring
We're gonna start a life, would you be my wife?
Boy or girl, pink or blue, yeah either way
All she could say, as she felt those tear drops fall
I'm so glad you called"

The last part of this song says:

If someone you know, is waiting on your mind
That needs a friend on the other end of the line
Don't hesitate, what you say may seem so small
But who knows, they might be, glad you called

So make the call.

I truly truly LOVEEEE this song! It really hits you in your heart when you hear it! Sometimes when a friend of yours is going through a tough time, all they may need is just a few words to cheer them up. If you haven't heard this song, you need to at least listen to it once!

Heaven Is For Real

Okay, before I start telling you about this AMAZING book, I would like to say that whether or not you read a lot or don't read ever... I rarely ever read and this book had me up until 3 A.M. under a light engaged in the story. Now that I got that out of the way I can tell you what this book is about.

Heaven Is For Real starts out introducing the dad, Todd Burpo; a pastor for Wesleyan church in Imperial, Nebraska. He has been going through a handful of bad luck with injuries resulting in a financial setback and a leave of absence in his job. He is on the right path to recovery when what began as a fun family road trip to the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver ended in a nightmare for Todd Burpo and his wife, Sonja. Later that evening after dining out with other church friends, when two children, Cassie and Colton started throwing up. They thought it was something they ate and would pass, while that may of looked true for Cassie, it wasn't for Colton. He continuously kept throwing up every few hours. They ended their trip short and rushed him back home to Imperial hospital where he stayed for weeks running test after test. Both of Colton's parents asked if it could be his appendix, but the Doctor immediately rejected that it could possibly be that. They couldn't seem to find a cure for what was wrong with him. Some days Colton would be fine and on his way to recovery and then hours later he would get sick again. It was all just a continuous cycle. Todd, being a Pastor has traveled to several hospitals to send a good-bye prayer to many of the ill. One day he walked in and was shocked to see the shadow of death cross over his 4 year old son's body. He became angry with the doctors and checked out Colton and brought him to another medical center. Here they told him he must have a emergency surgery for a busted appendix. His parents were shocked that this whole time their son was slowly slipping away, it was the one thing the other doctor swore that it wouldn't be. Mr. Burpo just about lost it, “Where are you God? Is this how you treat your pastors? Is it worth it to even serve you?” (Heaven pg. 94) he shouted. After his surgery, Colton made a remarkable recovery and was released to go home. Four months had passed and everything seemed to be going back to normal when they passed by the hospital and his father jokingly asked would you like to visit the hospital and Colton replied, "You know Dad, the angels sang to me while I was there." His father was shocked by his son's answer and began asking him more. They didn't know whether Sunday school was doing a good job of teaching their son about Heaven or what was going on, so they ignored his comment. Months later he continued making more comments about heaven like:
  • He sat in Jesus’ lap
  • He met his sister who died in his mother’s womb (whom his parents had never told him about)
  • He saw John the Baptist
  • There is a coming battle with Satan (he is a futurist!)
  • There are thousands of colors we have never seen
  • He met his great granddad (who told him things about his father that his father had never told him)
  • He saw Jesus’ “marks” on his hands and feet
  • All the people had wings of various sizes (including Colton) and flew around (except Jesus who moved up and down as if on an escalator)
  • Jesus had the most beautiful eyes, a beard, a white gown, a purple sash, and a crown
  • All the people had a light above their head (halo, I think)
  • Jesus sits on a throne at the right hand of God and Gabriel is on the left
  • He sat by God the Holy Spirit (who he could not describe) and explained to his dad that God is a Trinity
  • It never gets dark in heaven because God the Father and God the Son are the lights
  • There were all kinds of animals everywhere
  • Nobody is old in heaven and no one wears glasses
  • Jesus “shoots” power down from heaven to his father while he is preaching
  • The gates to heaven were made of gold and pearls
  • He was actually only there for three minutes (timelessness in heaven?)
These are all some of the bizarre things today that we have no clue whether or not are true (In my opinion I believe every bit of this is true). This book is based on a true story and Colton Burpo and his family were on T.V. recently. This book really hit me hard because I all the time am so curious about the reality of Heaven and no one can actually know the truth until you go there one day. I strongly advise reading this book because it gave me chills the whole time he described Heaven.

Enough

In the movie Enough, starring pop singer Jennifer Lopez as "Slim"; an abused wife learns to fight back. In the beginning of the movie, Slim is working as a waitress at a Cafe with her best friend, Ginny. She is soon swept off her feet by Mitch, a charming, brave, and rich man. They soon later get married and have a child named Gracie. They live the fairy tell life; perfect family, nice house, money, etc. but soon it all turns to turmoil when she finds out hes having an affair on her with another woman. Mitch tells Slim that she is harmless and just a work friend. More signs later on lead up to that they aren't just friends like the late nights, perfume on his clothes, and his avoidance towards her. She turns angry and threatens to have a divorce and leave. He then turns violent and begins to slap and punch her and says, "Since I make the money, I get to do what I want." She turns to Mitch's mom for help, but she only turns her down. Scared and not sure what to do, Slim decides that staying with Mitch will only lead to the worst so she plans to escape. Late one night she scoops up Gracie and packs her clothes to leave. With Ginny and her friends waiting outside on her to escape, she reaches for the door and is suddenly pulled back by the head of her hair. Mitch makes her put down Gracie, still sleeping, and begins to kick her in the ribs and hit her in the face. While beating her, a lamp breaks, and her friends come to her rescue and help Slim and Gracie get out. All of her money sources are cut off and she must find shelter and food to settle her and Gracie. Mitch, be raged and mad of her leaving sets off to get her back. He breaks into her motel and again Slim and her child get away. This time she decides to catch a plane to Seattle to hide out with her ex-boyfriend Joe. When she gets here, FBI is sent from Mitch to check his home for wife and daughter. Now that she has put her friends life in jeopardy, she leaves to find her long lost father; Jupiter in hopes of gathering money to start a new, secret life. Jupiter at first believes they are just beggars for money, but after being questioned by Mitch's men, he sends Slim money in Michigan to help her out. Slim changes her identity and appearance and starts a whole new life. After several phone booth phone calls, Mitch tracks her down. He ambushes her early in the morning tries to choke her. Gracie, terrified of this act, runs to her mother's rescue and they set flee once again. Slim; now "Erin", sends Gracie on a vacation with Ginny and begins taking self defense classes. When she feels powerful enough, she breaks into Mitch's home and hides all guns and shuts off phone signal so he can't call the police. Mitch returns home from work and Erin begins a fight with him. She beats him around like her did her then kicks him off his balcony where he hits a glass table and died instantly.
I absolutely love this movie and recommend watching it, because it lives up to the title of the movie that enough is enough. "Everyone has a limit."
